After the tree-snogging former Vice-President Al Gore was given a Nobel Prize, many right thinking pundits were bouncing back and forth between saying he didn’t deserve the prize and saying that the prize didn’t mean anything anyway.
I wish they had taken a different angle. It would have been much more productive for them to launch into a campaign advocating for one of our own to be given a Nobel Prize when they are next awarded. I hereby nominate Dick Cheney for the Nobel Peace Prize. I am going to throw two quotes up on this post to bolster my case…
“The pioneers of a warless world are the youth who refuse military service.” — Albert Einstein
“I had other priorities in the ’60s than military service.”
— Dick Cheney
Dick wasn’t explicit on what those priorities were, but clearly being a pioneer of a warless world was one of them.
